Arsenal Need This FA Cup

Being realistic the FA Cup is the last throw of the dice for Arsenal to win silverware this season.

We have as much chance of winning the league as Frank Lampard trying Diet Coke, are out of the pint of Carling Cup and the way Barcelona are playing UEFA may as well hand them the Champions League trophy now.

Now I know that Arsene Wenger counts getting into the aforementioned Champions League as a trophy but I don't.

You can not hold Champions League qualification above your head to thousands of Gooners like a cup can you?

That's why I think Arsenal need to win the FA Cup this season more than ever.

Arsenal need a trophy to shake that trophy-less monkey from our backs. We need to shake that little bastard hard.

People say that the FA Cup is a little disrespected these days, that it takes a back seat in the priorities. Well, I'd agree with that.

Maybe to get the magic of the cup back it needs a little shake up.

Perhaps the winners should gain entry into the Champions League instead of 4th place in the league?

Then, if we won it, I'd actually agree with Wenger that getting into the Champions League was like winning a trophy!

Whatever the case, Arsene must take the FA Cup even more serious than ever.

In the past the Arsenal gaffer and the FA Cup had a love affair deeper than the Mariana Trench. He loved the cup and the cup loved him.

We need that passion back. We need the FA Cup to flirt with Wenger and bring out his romantic side again because I truly believe winning it would launch Arsenal into competing again.

Arsenal just lack that winning mentality. That's why losing the Carling Cup final last season had such a deep impact on the rest of the season. We collapsed in a spectacular way after that defeat.

Who knows? If we had won that final we may have gone on and had another historic season.

This campaign hasn't been ideal for Gooners. At times I have wanted to pull my hair out and find a little bloke to beat up. Unless he is hard.

Winning the FA Cup would be wonderful. We need it. We need it bad.

As long as we meet Barcelona or Real Madrid in the final and not over two legs, I think we've got a real shout for Champions League.

Even though winning anything would be a must, the FA Cup doesn't excite me at all. Leeds on Monday? Yawn.

at the end of the day if i'd rather finish 4th with no cup than finish 5th and win the fa cup.

Could not agree more. I think a perfect example to look at is City. They hadn't won anything for a long time, won the FA cup and now look how well they are doing this season. Yes, agreed they have spent a lot, but it's the spirit and moral that is boosted when any sort of silverware comes in.
I think that although all the big teams are still in it, we still have a really good chance, as long as we play a mix of youth and experience, like he did in the past season in the Carling Cup, and not just youth like he did for a long time.
However, although it's 11 months gone, we still cannot get over the fact that we should have won that Carling Cup final. It was all in place for us, no big teams in the last 4 and a very very average team in the final.
We need to hope that the likes of City and Man U get out early, because I think apart from them 2, we can beat anyone in the league 4/5, including Spurs, LIverpool and Chelsea, although it does not show in the table at the moment
We need a bit of luck, but we can do it!

Just wonder what u think of this idea. how about a play off at the end of the season.

the team that wins the league cup visit the fa cup winners. the winners then play the team that finishes 4th in a play off for the champions league qualifier. in the unlikelyness that a team finishes 4th and wins both cups then there is no need for a play off. the play off final could even be played as the 39th game that the premier league have been banging on about for so long.

By the way, just to add, I think the idea of winning the FA cup and then getting into the CHampions League is a daft idea. Look at it this way, if this rule was in place for the Carling CUp, Birmingham would have been in the Champions League even though they were relegated and Arsenal would not be.
It is obvious that if Arsenal had played that same game 10 more times, they would have won all 10 and it was a freak win, but one game should not cost you a Champions League place, which you have worked hard for all season.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that winning is a habit. That's why Manure win. They know they know how to win. We don't have enough players in the team that know they know how to win, which is why I agree with your thoughts and am glad that Henry is back in the squad for a while.

Wrighty mate..

my oh my what have Our Beloved Arsenal become ??..besides from being run like macdonalds ?? and not being interested in winning anymore?
seems a long long time ago since The Real Arsenal was gunning for the double and even the triple :)these where the times when the leaders at Arsenal actually cared about Our club..these days its all about making *bacon*and allowing wenger to buy shit players..almunia,silvestre,squillaci,denilson,bendtner,etc..etc,,and selling poor poor players like clichy,adabayor,kolo,henry,nazri,cesc...great business money wise..totally disaster footballing wise..
we need to get Usmanov in..throw the american hooker and his henchman gazidis out...and then remove wenger..the man has in my opinion become a liability....

FA cup & Champions League place ....yes please, but if I had to chose betwen the two, it'd be CL place.

Couldn't disagree more. There are three trophies in football.

1. The PL
2. The CL
3. Finishing fourth - it's like a trophy.

I hope we play our weakest team possible on Monday as if you win the FA Cup or League Cup you can't say you've won something. We need to get 4th and this worthless cup will only get in the way.

It is the only way for Arsenal to get back on track and start winning trophies. For the past 7 years we've made it to 3 finals, Champions and lost to Farcelona, Carling twice and lost both to Chlesea and Birmingham, and after each as you mentioned our season collapse. IF AW wanted his players to have the spirit of neverbefore, he should aim to CUPs and then go after the league as with the current players mentality we won't be able to win it since we lose to WBA and clubs alike HOME.
